Francisco Fernández

Bogotá, Colombia

Francisco Fernández (1962) is a Colombian artist based in Bogotá. Explores the dynamics of how an organization can be generated and how it can allow variations, rearrangements, renew meanings and disintegrate conventional readings.
“The rhythmic patrons that determine his mathematical brushstrokes (unswerving traces that describe themselves as transparencies), as do the multiple intersecting effects generated by the brushstrokes, end up producing -more than an object- the atmospheric effect of a ‘curtain’ woven over a field of light.”— Highland Park, NJ
MEANDERS - This project departs from a series of works realized in 1989 never showed and has its source in Minimalist Music. In 2003, Fernández rethinks the project specifically for Luis Caballero Prize at the Bogota Planetarium. On this occasion, the project conceptually focuses on the fact of enhancing the ontological value of a painting, stimulated by the institutional critical discourse.
